How You Can 'Seize the Awkward'

We're excited to share our Seize the Awkward campaign with you, in partnership with Ad Council and AFSP. Learn more about the campaign and how you can use an awkward silence to check in with a friend about how they’re feeling.

University of Tampa

Help is just a phone call away. If you are in crisis, call Campus Safety at 813-257-7777 for assistance at any time. From 8:30-5:00, M-F, (M-Th in the summer) you can call the Counseling Center directly at (813) 253-6250 or just walk into the Dickey Health and Wellness Center at 111 N. Brevard Blvd (behind Austin Hall).

Other options are contacting the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay by dialing 211 on your phone. Staff and volunteer Intervention Specialists provide immediate and confidential short-term crisis intervention, and information & referral.

You can also call or text the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or text “START” to 741-741. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a national 24-hour toll-free suicide prevention and intervention telephone resource that provides immediate assistance to individuals in suicidal crisis by connecting them to the nearest available suicide prevention and mental health service provider.
