It’s easy to procrastinate getting help, but reaching out for support is the first step to feeling better. Most campuses offer confidential counseling services or can help connect you with resources in your community. Just talking about what’s going on can help you feel better, so take that first step by reaching out for help or opening up to a trusted friend or family member. There are ways to feel better, but you have to tell someone what you’re going through.

Student Health and Counseling

The Counseling staff’s primary objective is to help Linfield students to reach their academic and personal goals and to become responsible, ethical and productive members of society. We facilitate this process by helping students identify, address and overcome academic and personal concerns and difficulties that are interfering with their ability to achieve their goals. This help is typically offered through confidential individual counseling but may occur in a small group setting.
An an integrated department, the counseling staff works closely with the health staff to provide holistic care for our students. A team approach may be used to provide the most comprehensive care.
We are also available to the Linfield community to serve as consultants. In this role we might offer suggestions and ideas to someone concerned about a friend, teammate or relative who is experiencing difficulties, help a professor decide how best to help a student with personal problems, or assist staff members in the Housing Department to develop solutions to problems in a residence hall. We believe strongly in working closely and cooperatively with other college offices such as Residence Life, the College Chaplain, Career Development Services,Academic Advising and Learning Support Services to assure that our students receive the highest quality assistance possible. Our services are confidential to the full extent of existing law and professional ethical standards.
